Worland City Council recap Part 1



   The Worland City Council met in regular session on Tuesday night in the City Hall Chambers. Transmission Line work at Bighorn Canyon Nat. Rec. Area



   The Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) is rebuilding and upgrading some 50-year old power transmission lines that run through the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area.  The project began in the South District of the park last Wednesday and will continue through September of 2012.  SEI, from Deaver, Wyoming is the construction contractor in charge of the project. 1st Annual Mardi Gras parade in Worland



   Friday Fest was in full swing in Worland last Friday night as a Mardi Gras parade was held for the 1st time. The Worland High School Band, a lot of area kids, adults and dogs marched from Grace Avenue to South 8th Street up to Big Horn Avenue throwing beads and candy into the crowd. Lummis Issues Statement after voting against extending payroll tax cut



   WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo) voted against legislation to extend the payroll tax holiday, which passed the House by a vote of 293 to 132. Powell Hostage Situation UPDATE


UPDATE:Friends Identify Man

A man has died after being shot by Powell police on Thursday morning at the Park Motel. The man, according to police, had reportedly held more than one person hostage in a room for several hours and fired several rounds. The 31-year-old man was pronounced dead at Powell Valley Hospital this morning, said Park County Coroner Tim Power.
   Reports of shots fired ends with police firing final shot. Details are still sketchy however this is what we do know. Sometime around 4am the Powell Police Department received a report of shots fired in the Park Motel. When officers arrived it is reported they discovered a man with a gun who reportedly had hostages in a motel room.
