The City of Cody has extended an offer of employment to one of four City Administrator candidates.
The employment offer was made to current General Manager of the Joint Powers Board in Green River, Wyoming, Barry Cook.
Cook formerly served for 18 years as City Administrator for the City of Green River.
Cody Mayor Nancy Tia Brown extends her gratitude to all of the candidates who took time to travel to Cody and be a part of the selection process. Brown also gives credit to the citizens who served on the selection committee or attended the open house.
"There were four finalists, all of whom were quality people," said Mayor Brown. "They were all very articulate; they were all very professional. At the end of the day, I think what stood-out to us was Barry Cook's experience level. He has a wealth of experience. He has a great network of contacts around the state as a result of that experience. I think we felt like it was time to combine that experience with a fresh set of eyes looking at the City of Cody, because I think that's healthy. That combination of factors was the deciding factor in terms of our decision."
Cook is a graduate of the University of Wyoming and received his Public Administration degree from Golden Gate University in San Francisco.
"Certainly 18 years of city administrator experience in Green River, Wyoming," said Cook, speaking to his skill set. "I was born and raised in the state; know the values and culture of the State of Wyoming - that translates into working with agencies in Cheyenne and knowing those people. My education, my communication skills, my desire to involved in the community."
City Council Member Steve Miller says the salary range is $95,000 to $115,000 annually. City Hall and Cook agreed on a salary of $106,000.
The city considered three other candidates for the job, including Cody's Parks and Rec Director Rick Manchester, Purchasing Agent for the City of Billings Elizabeth Kampa-Weatherwax, and Urban Renewal Manager for the City of Casper Joshua Bake.
Cook will replace outgoing administrator, Jenni Rosencranse who left office on July 24. His anticipated start date is August 25.
