Big Horn County Holds Election Judge Training

Big Horn County is beginning its training of election judges today.

There will be two trainings both today and tomorrow for Big Horn County's different precincts.

Like other counties, County Clerk Lori Smallwood says Big Horn is experiencing a low turn-out for judges.

“We actually were doing really good up until this week,” said Smallwood. “We had a family that had an emergency, we had one of our judges who fell and broke her hip. We've been scrambling in the last couple of days to find fill-ins so we could get them trained. We're not flush with poll workers but we are pretty well staffed.”
Today there are two trainings at the county fairgrounds in Basin. Friday will be two trainings at the county annex in Lovell.

Smallwood adds that there are no major changes to the location of this year's polling stations.

“All of our polling place are almost identical,” said Smallwood. “The one exception is we've been able to go back and use the Cowley Log Gym which we weren't able to use in the 2012 election because it was being renovated.”

Smallwood's office will begin the testing and sealing of electronic voting machines on August 5.

Absentee voting is underway. The primary is August 19.
