Wyoming Guard Recieves two awards



CHEYENNE, Wyo. - The Wyoming Air National Guard's 153rd Logistics Readiness
Squadron and 153rd Medical Group in Cheyenne received the 2011 Air Force
Outstanding Unit Award.

The 153rd Logistics Readiness Squadron received the award for accomplishments
from Oct. 1, 2008-Sept. 30, 2010, while the 153rd Medical Group received its
award for accomplishments from Sept. 30, 2009-Sept. 30 2011.

The logistics readiness squadron distinguished itself through orchestrating
air support for flood missions in Freemont County, Wyo., and a deployment
with more than 220 Airmen to Afghanistan where the unit moved more than
19,000 passengers, 5,100 tons of cargo and supported nearly 1,600 combat
sorties.

The logisticians also passed three inspections by three separate commands
with overall "Excellent" ratings. Additionally, the unit assisted the Wyoming
Honor Flight Program by loading and unloading 75 wheel chairs, passengers and
baggage for World War II veterans travelling to see the World War II monument
in Washington, D.C.

The 153rd Medical Group totaled more than 17,500 patient visits and
encounters over two years, including more than 3,300 physicals and health
assessments, 750 eye exams, 700 dental exams and 3,900 laboratory tests.

Also, the unit is responsible for the medical processing of Airmen returning
from deployments. The Airmen of the 153rd Medical Group ensured those
returning spent no more than one hour completing medical tests and
interviews.

Additionally, in 2010, the medical group became the first Air Force unit to
earn a perfect score in its Aerospace Medicine Program for a health services
inspection.

The 153rd Medical Group deployed 81 Airmen in support of Operations Enduring
Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, state missions and joint exercises.
