Precinct Committee Men and Women,

A reminder to attend the Park County Republican Party Precinct Caucuses on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at 6:30PM at the VFW Post #2673. 808 12th Street in Cody. If you are unable to attend, please consider sending a precinct neighbor with your proxy (attached) to participate in your place. We will be meeting for several purposes:

1. to discuss and propose new platforms, resolutions and bylaws. The State GOP has requested that we consolidate and streamline our 2010 documents, suggesting that we come up with a maximum of eight platforms which highlight the philosophical underpinnings of the Park County Republican Party and an unspecified number of resolutions upon which we will focus our energies. Please print out the attachments and come to our meeting prepared to cooperate with the State GOP’s suggestions. Any registered Republican may participate in the caucus.

2. to conduct a non-binding straw poll regarding the presidential candidates. Republicans registered by February 1, 2012 may vote in the straw poll. If you would like to speak on behalf of any candidate, please let me know in advance so that we can schedule the appropriate amount of time for speakers; and

3. to elect delegates and alternates to our upcoming Park County Republican Party County Convention. Pursuant to our by-laws, precinct committee representatives are automatically our delegates to the county convention unless they indicate they will be unable to attend. No proxies will be permitted at the County Convention. Duly elected alternate candidates will take the place of precinct representatives who are unable to attend.

Political parties organize precinct caucuses. You can attend only one party’s caucus. This is the first step in selecting candidates for public office. It provides a chance for grassroots involvement., and is the basic opportunity for you to participate in the system. Any eligible voter who agrees with the principles of the party as stated in it’s constitution or who voted in the last election can attend a caucus.

Please copy and read the attached resolutions, platforms and bylaws to be prepared.

We will only have a few printed copies at caucus.
