Hunter Reported Missing In Hot Springs County Found Alive


A news release put out by the Hot Springs County Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue on Sunday, October 23 reports that missing 82-year-old hunter Wayne Hockaday has been found. Hockaday was returned to his home at about 2:15 pm on Saturday, October 22 by area hunters. Hockaday had previously been reported missing on Thursday, October 20 when he did not return from a deer hunt on Wednesday night, October 19. Mr. Hockaday was said to be hunting on BLM land near Black Mountain Road in North Eastern Hot Springs County.

Mr. Hockaday was taken by ambulance to Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital on Saturday, October 22 for an evaluation. It is unknown where Mr. Hockaday was located at and the investigation is ongoing. The Hot Springs County Sheriff’s Office along with Search and Rescue thanks everyone for their assistance with this search leading to its positive outcome.
